Even the pauses get measured. Plex also collects seconds watched, seconds paused, seek counts, and buffering events.

Plex’s May 6, 2026 policy lists no Plex Pass exemption. Its U.S. disclosures list these categories as shared or sold to ad companies. “Sale” includes advertising disclosures under privacy law.

Plex offers opt-outs and says it does not share Personal Content with third parties. The list above concerns personal data, not private media files.
